Operation: Chrono Storm

The door opens into a busy hallway, soldiers and associated personnel moving this way and that in the controlled chaos that precedes a battle. A few casts puzzled glances at Annabelle, but say nothing, noting how the blonde woman is being escorted by the Special Agent.

Annabelle's smile at his pleas and the white hot pillar of flame is a sharp and savage thing.

It looks like he's dead at long damn last.

In a very... anticlimactic way.

Of course, rationally, Tanya is aware that incinerating the bad guy with plasma cannons is a better option than fighting their way in,m possibly losing many soldiers more in battle.

But still: that madman killed one of her two best friends. She wanted to kill him herself.

"We... met some weird things on the way here." Change of subject.

Annabelle understands the impulse. She reaches for Tanya's hand, squeezing it in an attempt at conveying that understanding.

"I would guess that Yuri has been mucking about with human test subjects in various ways," Annabelle adds. "Altering them in ways never intended by nature."

Tanya gives a quick squeeze back.

The Commander nods. "We saw a few of those, and killed all we met. The giants are disturbing, infantry that can take a Mirage shell to the chest and keep fighting." He shakes head. "We will take care of it."

"Now, if you will excuse me, I have to meet with the Soviet High Commander. And set the terms to end the war for good."

"Politics waits for no one," she tells him with a small smile. "Better you than me, I've no patience for diplomacy."

"Indeed." He smiles, salutes, and walks off.

As soon as he's out of sight, Tanya slumps down to a seat on some crates. "Oh god."

It's... over?

It's over, really? It will take a while getting used to it.

Maybe an Annabelle will help? She sits down next to Tanya on the crates, putting an arm around her friend.

"Merry Christmas," she says with a grin. "I don't think I could buy you anything to top this."

Tanya blinks. "It's... February. Over Christmas I was blowing up Red Army submarine pens in the caribbean." Tanya gives a rueful smile. "Time flies when you are fighting a war."

"Huh. It's still early December at the Bar," she says with a shake of her head.

She pokes her friend. "You should have told me that I was late with your Christmas present," she teases.

Tanya pokes back. "I did not even remember the date... and it means I'm late with yours too."

"Not if we're reckoning time by home dimension," she protests. Then she laughs, because how often does that come up in normal people's conversation?

She grins, and gives her friend a hug. "I'll find something nice for you."

"Now... should we find a door back? It's... well, I think we'll be vacating the premises soon." Or so she hopes.

She grins, hugging her friend. "That would probably cut down on the awkward questions," she replies.

Tanya gives a nod, getting up.

It should not be too hard to find a Milliways entrance in the city: they have plenty of doors around...
