Operation: Not-So-Lone-Guardian

The door opens into what seems to be a warehouse, but a quick look around reveals it to be a boathouse, a large one. Tied to the enclosed pier, a U.S. Navy Amphibious troop transport waits for the combatants. Lined up near the transport are weapons, scuba gear and four 20 gallon metal drums.
OOC: Read This First
Date: 2009-10-13 06:39 pm (UTC)1 - The attack crew swims underwater, using diver vehicles radar, gps and all the fancy stuff, attach the drums to the hull of the soviet ships, take distance and blow them away. Unfortunately, they are a bit late, and the Dreadnoughts just bombed Miss Liberty to smithereens (but saved Fort Bradley). At this point, anyone who want to go back can do it.
2 - Any remaining forces make their way to Bradley, probably skirmishing with soviet paratroopers on the way. Upon reaching Fort Bradley, the crew delivers a new comm beacon and the Fort is back in the Defense Grid.
3 - To make things easier for the incoming Allied deployment in the city, Tanya rounds up some GI's (and any of the Milliways crew who does not want to return now) and pays a visit to a small soviet supply depot/field base.
Second, this is prethreading, so, Tanya is using Milliways to maximum advantage: any people coming with her will have received previous training in scuba diving and on setting explosives. Firearms skills you have to bring with you, and unfortunately, no super-advanced weapons.
Also, the volunteers would have been introduced to each other beforehand. We handwave it here and can thread it in Bar at our own pace.
Questions before we start?

Re: OOC: Read This First
Date: 2009-10-18 07:51 pm (UTC)The game's story line starts off with the American military being caught completely off guard by the Soviet invasion of the USA, with Soviet aircraft and paratroopers coming in on both the East Coast and West Coast and with the majority of Soviet ground forces coming in through Mexico, which had recently voted in a communist government. The USA attempts to retaliate with the use of nuclear missiles, but Yuri, leader of the Soviet Psychic Corps and Premier Romanov's top advisor, uses his mind control to manipulate the personnel charged with launching the warheads and leaves them to explode in their silos. Within hours, the USA is overrun with Red Army troops. In response, the US President Michael Dugan establishes an emergency response team headed by General Carville and the Commander (the player).
So, rural parts of the United States have been 'self-nuked', and Annabelle was told what little they know about Yuri and his mind-controlling powers.

Date: 2009-10-18 07:55 pm (UTC)I suspect some part of Annabelle's mind is wondering if she'll ever get away from psychics with world domination ambitions. ;-)

Date: 2009-10-18 09:01 pm (UTC)*Grins* If Teja was coming along I would have had to change Annabelle's last post. I don't think she would have been too at ease changing in front of a man.

Date: 2009-10-18 07:32 pm (UTC)She does watch Annabelle change, of course, but does not stare too much. Once they are both suited up, they can haul the drums into the vehicle and pick up their weapons.
Of course Tanya picked a sniper rifle for Annabelle, but also a couple machine pistols if close combat becomes an issue. The last thing to be loaded in is the replacement comm beacon.

Date: 2009-10-18 07:45 pm (UTC)"Good to know," Annabelle replies with a sharp grin. The hunt is on, so to speak, and Annabelle's blood is up.
Oooh...shiny weapons. Tanya picks out the best presents. Annabelle isn't fond of the feel of the wetsuit against her skin as she helps Tanya manhandle the drums into the vehicle, but she can cope with it.

Date: 2009-10-18 09:29 pm (UTC)"There are soviet paratroopers in the city garrisoning buildings already, but we might also find holdout groups, like police, national guard members and such. So we have to be careful with who we shoot."

Date: 2009-10-18 09:33 pm (UTC)Her expression is more grim when Tanya discusses the paratroopers. "So long as the paratroopers are in uniform that shouldn't present too much of a problem," Annabelle replies with a nod. Well, not too much of a problem for people with gun skills like Tanya and Annabelle.

Date: 2009-10-18 11:13 pm (UTC)It is a good 'drive' until the start point, and mostly uneventful. They have to stop once, while a huge rigid zeppelin passes above. Even from their hiding spot, the weapon blisters on the thing's structure are clearly visible, along with the hammer and sickle markings. "Kirov Airship..."

Date: 2009-10-18 11:21 pm (UTC)Annabelle eyes the airship, contemplating ways to destroy it from her current position. "Hopefully, that thing won't spot us," she says quietly. It's too bad that blowing the zeppelin up would attract too much attention.
